Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. Silver Plate Flatware |
Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co. was a large well known and respected hardware store in Chicago, IL, in the early part of the 20th century.
The store specialized in fine cutlery and commissioned its own lines of silver plate flatware to be sold at retail.
By necessity these offerings were limited to the store's customers and therefore never made in quantities like the national silver manufacturers' patterns.
Our Very Best, mark OVB, was one of the marks of Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett & Co., stamped on all styles.
Our Very Best ONE was introduced in 1917. It had quintuple plating, first used in 1909. This was a big upgrade in plating quality from standard A1 and extra plate [Ref. The Iron Age, Febr. 1909].
This charming Edwardian style rare pattern is now ever harder to locate. We are proud to offer a limited selection of styles here.
