WMF Silver, Germany Silver Plate Flatware |
WMF is the Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik AG, located in Geislingen, near Württemberg in Germany.
In true Germanic tradition WMF silverware is expertly made, the designs classic and elegant with excellent finish, good weight and balance.
The WMF patterns are numbered but some may also have a name. One pattern series was named after European cities. Rom (Rome), WMF Number 4500, is one of these patterns. The exact era of production of this pattern is not known to me but the design is representative of mid-century 1950s-1960s. If anyone knows the exact production years for this pattern, I'd welcome a mail about it.
The Rom pattern has a swirl design at the top of the handle, a satin finish handle and a polished utensil part. The pieces shown on this page are in exceptionally fine vintage condition. They have been carefully stored but were never used. The knives have stainless steel blades stamped WMF.SORRY, SOLD OUT
